About Us

The State of Ohio has one of the largest Arab American populations in the nation. According to the US Census Bureau, the Arab American population of Ohio exceeds 117,000. While other studies, such as those conducted by Arab American Institute put the number of Ohio’s Arab American population at over 215,000, the majority of whom reside in Northeast Ohio.

Arab American Voter Project (AAVP) is the premier resource for connecting the Arab and Arabic speaking community of Greater Cleveland with opportunities for voter engagement, education, and mobilization. So too, AAVP serves as a grassroots organization, ensuring Arab Americans are registered to vote, informed, empowered, and engaged. In doing the above, we at AAVP believe such actions will increase the community’s visibility and ensure their concerns are addressed by their local, state and federal representatives.

At AAVP, we won’t rest until all members of our community can live with dignity. Since the first Arab Americans reached the shores of our great adopted nation more than a hundred years ago, we have faced many challenges which have led us to be intimidated by and hesitant to participate in the democratic process. In recognizing our hardships while celebrating the opportunities this country has afforded us, we choose to build a more inclusive future. As such, it is AAVP’s long-term goal to lead all Arab Americans, whether they be disenfranchised or marginalized to full civic participation, serving as a bridge that connects the Arab community to a new generation of motived and inclusive leaders in Northeast Ohio.
